The Device Clinic at Heart Center of Rockies is available to any patient with a pacemaker, a defibrillator, or biventricular pacemaker. Co-program directors, Dr. Timothy Johnson and Dr. Charles Tate III, are electrophysiologists who implant pacemakers, defibrillators, biventricular systems, as well as performs electrophysiology testing, atrial fibrillation ablation and radio frequency ablation. An electrophysiologist is a cardiologist who has specialized training on the electrical system of the heart.
The Device Clinic nursing staff provides follow-up care after a pacemaker or defibrillator is implanted. During routine office visits, the staff will monitor the function of the device to identify potential problems and provide prompt treatment. The staff also provides education for patients and their families to maximize the quality of life for those living with cardiac devices.
