BIVENTRICULAR PACEMAKERS AND ICDS
These devices are similar to the implanted cardioverter defibrillator ICDs but have leads in the right atrium, right ventricle and the left ventricle of the heart. This type of ICD is prescribed most frequently for patients who have congestive heart failure. Heart failure often causes the ventricles to beat "out of sync" with the rest of the heart. Stimulating both ventricles in the correct order allows the heart to pump more efficiently.
