Screening and Prevention

Knowing your risk for or the presence of heart disease is an important first step. Our specialized program for women offers several options to help identify your risk.

For a general evaluation, you can request a free heart-health questionnaire. Women who complete the survey will receive a four-page detailed report to share with their primary physician.

If you know you are a candidate for heart disease, our low-cost screening with a cardiac nurse will give you a more comprehensive risk assessment. The screening includes:

Detailed assessment of family history and lifestyle issues
Cholesterol and glucose testing
Blood pressure and body mass index measurements

The session also includes a review of the test results and suggestions for appropriate interventions and referrals.

Additional testing can include specialized blood testing such as expanded lipid profiles and C-reactive protein or CRP (a marker of inflammation if the blood vessels), a coronary calcium scan to identify calcium deposits in coronary arteries, or a carotid artery intima-media thickness test (Carotid IMT).

You may schedule a low-cost screening by calling 970-221-1000.
